Few days ago, my brother wrote his first post in his first blog. That post was brief introduction about him and his research. I found something interesting there.
Now, I am working on some project about isolation and extraction some compound
When I read that line, the first thing came up on my mind was.. the following verbs after "about" should be in their -ing form.. hahaha. Next, hmm.. don't you first do extraction before doing isolation? so.. I thought he should write extraction firstly then isolation.
I made comment on his blog and also told him directly. When I told him about the sequence.. he said that we did isolation first before doing extraction.
He continued, by definition.. when you did extraction you did separation process. So, the first thing to do was to draw out (isolate) the compound from matrix and because the isolation outcome was not in pure form it should be separated (extracted).
I search the definition then..
Extraction in chemistry is a separation process consisting in the separation of a substance from a matrix. (wikipedia)
Isolate Chemistry To separate (a substance) in pure form from a combined mixture. (The Free Dictionary)
Well, it is said in isolating process there's separation process also. Hmm.. I still on my thought.. Extraction before isolation.
